Since putting is most of golf, and short putting inside 10
feet is most of putting, many people have probably
considered taking short putting lessons.
Let's thinks
about that for a moment. What on earth can anyone teach you
about short putting? There is almost no physical skill
involved that can be taught.
So what is that a pro would teach you in a short putting
lesson? There is no correct grip. There is no right stance.
There is no right alignment. There's nothing that can be
called the right way as far as physically putting a golf
ball into a hole from short distances.
All you need to do to find out anything a pro can teach
you is probably in the book the Putting Bible by Dave Pelz.
Or maybe you want to look into Stan Utley to see if he can
do the same thing for you that he does for people who do
nothing but practice golf all day.
Anybody who teaches golf and then tries to teach you
short putting the same way as any other golf shot is doomed
to fail you. The fact of the matter is that putting from
inside of ten feet is different than other golf shots.
You must adapt and play it as a target game. The value of
you next short putting lesson is directly related to the
teachers ability to recognize and advise you of the
difference and how to make it work for you.
That teacher probably doesn't exist.
